How can I optimize the numbers of holes made with a FS Mondrillo core-bit?
Why does my Mondrillo core bit make not many holes? Once a while it happens that a clients asks this question to our technical dept.
The main reason is probably the fact that the instructions of use were not correctly followed. With this core-bit (dry use) it is necessary to drill the tile with a rotative movement during all the drilling operation.
Without this type of movement:
• The diamond is too stressed loosing definitely its cutting qualities.
• The dust doesn’t come out from the hole, covering and damaging the diamond tips.
The drilling tools performances indicated by Brevetti Montolit are variable because they change according to the type and thickness of the different materials:
• Increased thickness means lower performances
• Abrasive materials rich of quartz means lower performances
The hardest material on which the FS Mondrillo core bits has been tested is Gres Porcellanato (Porcelain Stoneware) and the results (valid for 8 mm thickness porcelain stoneware) are:
• Approx. 20 holes with FS6 (6 mm diametre) core bit (with regular cooling)
• Approx. 30/40 holes with FS8 FS10 FS12 FS14 FS16 FS20 (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 20 mm diametres) core-bits (with regular cooling)
• Approx. 50/60 holes with all the rest of FS drilling tools from 27 mm to 75 mm diametre
Our latest suggestion is to cool during the use, all the FS core bits with diameters lower than 20 mm. It is enough to do one or more pauses during the drilling process, putting for 2 seconds, the tool head in a small glass of water without switching off the grinding machine.
Following these simple tricks you can make more holes increasing the performance of your diamond core drill bits.
