Can you renovate your house without creating a dust problem? YES you can!
One of the main problems encountered when renovating a property is the dust generated by the multitude of equipment required to cut and drill tiles, concrete and plaster etc…
Although we take precautions by covering our best furniture and appliances with dust sheets of various kinds, it is
proven that fine dust penetrates everywhere which then forces us to clean everything time and time again. However and so often, because of the nature of dust, the cleaning operation easily damages appliances, especially plasma televisions and other high technology electrical appliances.
The REAL problem however is not necessarily the direct economic damage caused to furniture and household appliances but can the damage to the health of the people who live in the house.
Breathing this dust has been recognized by many European countries to be harmful to such a point that in 2010 Spain, Holland, Belgium and others prohibited contractors by law from working in homes without the use of machines capable of eliminating dust almost completely. This also includes dust generated in terms of bricklaying or laying floors too!
Unfortunately, even today, there are very few machines available in the marketplace that will suppress the dust created whilst carrying out the cutting operation of general building materials that are used in renovation projects.
In an effort to support the trade Montolit has recognised this issue and has developed a portable machine – ‘THE AQUAFLEX’ – that will help contractors comply with these new European Laws that relate to the control of dust emission in the workplace.
This special system uses a water spray that completely eliminates the problem of dust.
Therefore – If your tiler or builder uses this tool he does not have to worry about your health and your children and your
furniture and appliances are not damaged in any way!! He also complies with the Law. A win win situation for all!!

The Special Breaking System … grows up
It is incredible to think that the MONTOLIT Dual Splitting system, which “revolutionized the Manual Push Tilecutter World”, has now reached it’s 18th Anniversary since launch!!
Much envied and imitated by some, this splitting system is an important innovation within the tile cutter world, and is typically incorparated into our manual tilecutter – the Masterpiuma P2 Series.
Designed and Patented by Brevetti Montolit in 1993, the dual splitting device has, on a daily basis, been able to solve the splitting problems associated with very hard materials, especially to save the point corner of a tile when 45° cutting. It’s use is also brilliant for splitting the individual segments of sheet mosaic tiles.
Automatic, simple and effective, this special ‘flip down’ splitting device is made of a special plastic “NO SCRATCH” material that provides a clean split with no possibility of damaging or marking the surface of the tile.

Examples of finished cuts obtainable with our new wet saw – the ‘Tornado’
Dear friends, with this short post we would like to give feedback to some good forum discussion that requests us to show the good finish obtainable when cutting tiles with our new wet saw – the ‘Tornado’.
In our previous video we forgot to spend time to show some of the finished cuts achieved…sorry for that. We have solved the problem now with this video.
The result of your finished cut in ceramic tiles obviously depends on the type of wet saw used but above all it depends on the type of diamond blades that you use.
In this video we show some finished cuts that we obtained in gres porcelanato tiles, enduro tiles by Marazzi, granite tiles, travertine tiles etc. when using our NEW model wet saw called ‘Tornado’.
Our aim was to achieve a very high grade finished cut. In this case we used our Montolit ‘CPF’ model blade with a continuous rim that has a special diamond composition. As you can see in the video, the finished edge is very good. One important thing…with this kind of blade (CPF diamond blades), you must cut the material very slowly!
For any technical requests, please write us directly.
Manual Block Cutters Montolit are opening the new frontier of “GREEN TOOLS” !
Every day the environment becomes more of a priority in our lives, and it is right that we, as the forefront manufacturers of construction equipment, contribute maximum effort in this direction.
In terms of ecology there is still much work for all to do. However we can demonstrate that our manual paving block cutters are already a good example of green tools - even though they were invented decades ago!!
Thanks to characteristics such as the use of simple materials, its non-polluting operation and the complete recyclability of the product, the evidence is there that fits with current topical thinking.
Here we can see these benefits in detail:
- ECOLOGY – 100% recycling of the steel materials used in the build structure
- MINIMUM CUTTING COST per METRE – very LOW compared to the use of diamond blades used in classic power tools
- SPEED – very fast and precise operation compared to using a diamond blade
IT DOESN’T NEED ANY ELECTRICITY!
Being in the mood for quotes:- our MANUAL BLOCK CUTTER can be compared to the ‘mythological Phoenix bird that can rise from the ashes’ … since they are once made NEW by hand and will definitely reach to the end of a very long long life!!
And then, in addition to being ecological, these manual paving block cutters are also very health-conscious for the operator. Today it is fashionable to cut everything with a diamond blade, but so often the Trade does not pay attention to costs in terms of personal injury due to vibration, dust and risks associated with electricity.
A manual split cutter does not generate dust or harmful vibrations and does not create ANY noise pollution against that generated by large power tools.
The only drawback – (whose designs are 110% perfect after all?) – is that it is heavy to move … but we’ve created the system of levers and pinch rollers to overcome this obstacle.
Well then? Using our Block Cutter – Why not use a little effort that is so beneficial to the environment?

How many holes can you make with a FTJ dry core-bits? Let’s look at the video!
This Extraordinary demonstration highlights the durability and efficiency of this high quality diamond core-bits called the FTJ “junior” range.
We made more than 60 consecutive holes! … And the core bit still has life in it to make many more… you can see at the end of the video that the bit is only slightly worn.
This incredible life expectancy is achieved because the core bit is made in the typical Montolit high quality way and ALSO because of careful use by the operator – so the instruction is:- Do not ‘force’ the cut – take your time – ‘feel’ the cut – relieve the pressure and keep the tip cool !
These great results are not a surprise but a confirmation, by demonstration, of the quality of this dry drilling tools which are used daily by professional tradesmen all around the world including tile layers, plumbers and other installers etc. when drilling materials such as porcelain and ceramic, tiles and granite.

2nd hand tile cutters. How to choose them.
If you are thinking of buying a second hand manual tile cutter, regardless of the make and model, it is essential before you purchase to check the following points:
1. Check the incision process working perfectly by doing a test cut. This will tell you if the incision wheel is sharp and that the handle moves freely!
2. Check the if the handle is a precision fit on the sliding bar. A loose fit could mean it is worn out!
3. Test the function of the square/measurement system, especially for a tile cutter with a removable square because, during time and with heavy use, the perfect square setting and locking pin may become worn or damaged.
These tips are valid for all brands and models of manual tile cutters with one or two bars, including push tile cutters or the old pull type models.
Please note, if you purchase a used tile cutter with two bars it will also be necessary to verify the compactness and attachment of the various components (bars, bushes and base).
Today, the online market for the purchase of used tile cutters is a widespread reality, and classically by direct internet sales.
If you purchase a used tile cutter off the internet, try if possible, to get the machine whilst it still has some manufacturers warranty or get the seller to give a warranty – unless you are sure it meets with the conditions we have mentioned!
To cut vitrified – glazed porcelain tiles
As you can see it isn’t necessary to use a special tiling tools, a good tile cutter is enough!

Its common knowledge that chipped edges or a bad finish can occur when cutting hard ceramic tiles? Solution: the new Montolit CG diamond wheel!!
Increasingly hard ceramic and porcelain tiles with uneven or irregular surfaces are definitely giving the tile layer a difficult time when cutting them into beautiful creative shapes and innovative patterns that are being demanded by the customer of today!!
These clients require such perfection in the finish that it is really difficult for the tile layer to achieve the desired effect without having a complicated array of specific tiling tools, plus a good deal of experience!!
For wet or dry cutting such hard tiles as these Montolit has created a new continuous rim diamond blade called Progres CG.
Thanks to the particular mixture of diamond and metal within the cutting crown, Montolit have developed such an innovative blade that the cutting operation is very fast and very precise in terms of aesthetics because the risk of chipping hard tiles has been greatly reduced.
Today the Montolit CG Diamond Blade represents the top of the range as regards diamond blades designed for cutting Gres Porcelain.
These blades are now readily available in 115 and 125 mm diameters.
New addition! A pair of Fixing Clamps are now included with the Montolit Tilers Work Table Art.994
From today, included in the price of the Art.994 Tilers Work Table, is a pair of superior quality Fixing Clamps.
These clamps are to help Tilers fix the tiles to the table top whilst carrying out the most delicate phases of cutting and drilling tiles.
A very useful multi-purpose tiling tool accessory which we are sure will be a great help during the working day!!
The Montolit tile cutter range IN USE by the Dianova boys!
Situated in 12 countries of Europe and the Americas, the Dianova network is composed of non-profit member organizations
that are dedicated to providing social programs and developing innovative initiatives in the fields of addiction prevention and treatment,
education and youth development.
Since the very origins of the Dianova network, we have been working for and with young people.
The know-how acquired through our past efforts has become a key element during recent years
in designing interventions for “at-risk” youth in addition to drug abusers, including adolescents
and young adults who are confronted with family disruptions, inner-city youth, “street” youth,
illegal immigrants, youth who are violent or victims of violence and others.
Helping, healing, and showing these young people the path to a better future, has already been greatly satisfying.
However, with such precious know-how, and with the success of our efforts so far,
we are now determined to expand and develop more broadly programs and activities that provide early,
preventative interventions.
Brevetti Montolit Spa is supporting Dianova training building courses by giving its tile cutters
hoping that they can help these boys so that they can build a better future for themselves.
Good luck boys!

Montolit now supply a small diamond blade which is very useful for making square holes in tiles !!!
Countless times you will need to cut a square hole in the lining of walls for such things as electrical panels, sockets and switch boxes in an effort to meet the ever increasing demand for more power points that feed telephones, satellite TV, computers, electrical appliances, house alarms etc !!
The Montolit R & D Department has developed a small diameter dry use diamond blade to enable the tradesman to do all of these jobs. The blade is 85mm diameter and fits to a normal angle grinder.
The name of this new blade is “SQUADRO” (art. TCS85)and it will allow you to cut square / rectangular and very small (4×4 cm) shapes in all types of ceramic, porcelain, marble tiles and granite materials.
Used with care, even on site, the “SQUADRO” blade will allow the user to produce precise and accurate square cuts suitable for small cover plates and switches etc.
It’s main characteristics and benefits are it’s extreme manoeuvrability, the speed of cut and the high level of finish. All achieved because of the Montolit high build quality and narrow blade width !!!!
